What does “Piccolo Tifoso” mean and why did we choose this name for our brand?

Tifoso, fan, fanatic. All of these words are Important for understanding the passion behind our brand. But why did we choose ‘tifoso’? When someone cheers for something, there is magic that gets released from them in a positive way. It is support and happiness and hope. Yes, we could say that someone is a fan or spirited. But for the name of a clothing line, none of those had the flavor we were looking for.

The word ‘fanatic’ to us means someone that has lost their head. Yes, it is possible to lose your head for a soccer team…but for a baby? A baby is too young for these things! A baby wants to play, sleep, laugh…we cannot put that kind of pressure on a baby. After six months in the world, we can act as a guide of what team or sport we cheer for and hope they follow, but we cannot force them.

The word ‘tifoso’ to us means that someone follows the game, has a balanced life, has a normal passion for soccer. They have great connections to a support network, have a happy life, and a decent job. A big tifoso is someone that keeps the spirit of their team in their heart, hums the opening theme song of their sport, hangs up a flag of their team in their home, has a jersey in their closet. But they are not centering their life around their team, and their world will not crumble if their team loses. Maybe their mood might be affected for a day, but that is it! We want to make sure we are helping today’s youth form a positive, healthy, and realistic connection to soccer.

A tifoso is cute, happy, and knows how to manage disappointment when their team loses. They are not walking around mad, bitter, or crabby. They have a sense of maturity, they understand the value of a code of conduct, they have class. A tifoso knows a win is not a license to shove things in others’ faces. A piccolo tifoso has a little body, but a big spirit not just for soccer, but for a world that is fair, peaceful, full of love…and style!
